This innovative and entertaining video is aimed at preparing children under the age of 9 years for a hospital experience. The video has been produced to view hospital life from a childs perspective.
Research has shown that young children benefit from being prepared for the types of experiences that they may have while in hospital. Preparation demystifies the environment and procedures and reduces psychological problems.
The focus of Check it Out! is on the social experiences that will occur while in hospital and some of the common procedures.
The intention is to create a context within which children can relate and learn about the hospital experience in a non-threatening and entertaining manner.
The video is highly recommended for children up to the age of 9 years. It can be shown to individual children and discussed with a parent or can be shown to a group of children and discussed amongst the group with leadership from a teacher or care-giver.
