Parental Involvement In Their Child's Anaesthetic
This 10-minute video highlights the need for today's health professionals to question their beliefs and practice in the induction of anaesthesia in children. It aims to facilitate the partnership of professionals and parents in the induction of anaesthesia in children. This video advocates best practice in the area of parental presence during the induction of a child's anaesthetic. Common myths, which prevent parental presence, are highlighted, as are the facts, which dispel the myths as being barriers to parental presence. The challenge of working with children and their parents is presented in a practical way of enabling professionals to gain ideas of how to continuously improve their practice by incorporating the special needs of children and their parents and to 'be kind to kids'.
