NSW Health advises people living in or travelling to bushland around Sydney or rural parts of NSW over Easter to cover up and avoid mosquito bites especially over autumn, the peak season for mosquito borne diseases.

NSW Health has today announced a statewide recall of plastic drinking bottles issued to pre-schools throughout the State as part of a health promotion initiative, following a complaint that the valve lid was potentially faulty.

The NT Department of Health and Families has issued a clear warning to 'cover up' against the mosquito borne diseases Murray Valley encephalitis virus and Kunjin virus diseases for the Easter holiday period and the next three months. Historically, March to June is the peak period for the Kunjin virus and potentially fatal Murray Valley encephalitis virus throughout the NT, with activity continuing in higher risk areas until July.
