The
Heart & Practice of Child Centered Play Therapy 1 workshop
is an introduction to the world of Child Centered Play Therapy
and gives an overview of this heartful Play Therapy approach,
which is a humanistic, non directive form of counselling
& psychotherapy for children from 3 -10 years old. Child
Centered Play Therapy fosters the childs innate potential
for inner growth and development. In Child Centered Play
Therapy, the Play Therapist enters the world of the child,
following the childs lead, developing a safe place
and relationship of trust. The workshop provides the opportunity
for participants to learn about Child Centered Play Therapy
in a safe and supportive learning environment and to be
able to integrate some of the principles & practices
of Child Centered Play Therapy into their work with children
in a range of different settings. This workshop will include
didactic and experiential learning, role plays, Play Therapy
demonstrations, video and case material and personal reflection
activities.

This
seminar is a unique opportunity to hear first hand from
one of the worlds leading authorities on early childhood
trauma, neurobiology and attachment theory. The seminar
will focus on understanding and interpreting up to date
neuroscience research about the impact of stress and trauma
on bodily-based processes, emotional regulation and early
experience-dependent brain maturation. It will also examine
how to apply this knowledge base about the brain systems
which underlie attachment to support positive developmental
outcomes for children and young people who have experienced
abuse and neglect.
