Kate Bishop

Children, youth and environments are my main area of specialisation. For many years I have worked as a consultant on design projects creating environments for children with special needs. This led to my interest in research which culminated in my PhD, which was focused on children's experience of a paediatric hospital setting and on understanding the role of the physical environment on children's feeling of well-being during hospitalisation.

In both designing children's environments and researching children's experience I am a passionate advocate of children's participation and their need to be involved in projects that have the capacity to affect their lives.
