Joanna Holt
Prior to this she worked for five years in the not-for-profit sector as CEO of Women’s and Children’s Hospitals Australasia, an industry body supporting clinical excellence in hospital care. While in the UK she assisted Great Ormond St Children’s Hospital with re-engineering clinical services and on her return worked as National Director of Camp Quality, a well known children’s charity. Joanna has worked in both clinical and corporate leadership roles following her early career as a medical scientist specialising in medical virology. She holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a Master of Health Planning. Her passion is safeguarding the future health and wellness of our children and the planet they live on! |

World Rare Disease Day Australia 2012 World Rare Disease Day raises awareness about rare diseases and their impact on patients’ lives. May 2012 Parent to Parent NZ is looking for contacts to connect families who have a child with a disability, health impairment or special need. See if you can help - click here to view the current list of contacts they are looking for. 16 April 2012 The Consumers Health Forum of Australia is currently conducting a project on Quality Use of Medicines among Young People. Part of this project involves an online survey of individuals 17 years old or younger (focussing on young people aged 10 17 years of age) with the aim of gathering information about their attitudes and behaviours regarding medicines and medicine use. To participate visit: 29 February 2011 AWCH attended an event in Sydney’s Martin Place on February 29th that marks World Rare Disease Day 2012. 22 November 2011 AWCH attended the Youth Health2011 – It’s Totally Important Conference in November in Sydney. The conference ran over 3 days and was a wonderful mix of professionals and young people coming together to discuss youth health. AWCH jointly hosted a pre-conference workshop which had a morning session discussing the rights of young people in healthcare and the standards required to protect those rights followed in the afternoon with presentations and discussion about training and workforce development in adolescent healthcare.

Joanna has been employed as an executive in the public health and hospital sector, both in Australia and the UK, for many years. Her most recent position was as Executive Director of the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission, which was formed to advise the current government on major policy and governance changes to the health and hospital system.
