Janine Sawford
She trained at the Royal Hobart Hospital in 1987 and completed her midwifery at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in 1995. She has been a Paediatric Nurse for over 20 years and loves her chosen field. Her special interests include paediatric oncology, adolescent mental health and paediatric hospital in the home. Janine enjoys the challenges that come with working in Paediatrics and loves the diversity that paediatric nursing brings. She is currently working on setting up a Paediatric Nurse Unit Managers Network that will allow all Nurse Unit Managers working in paediatric units in Tasmania to share ideas and support each other. Janine is an active member of Children’s Hospitals Australasia and is the chair of the Nurse Unit Managers Special Interest Group. Janine has been a volunteer for Camp Quality which provides support to children with cancer for the past 14 years and is the medical team leader for Tasmania. Janine also loves to travel to exciting destinations all around the world and has recently gained her scooter licence and loves riding her baby blue vespa. |

See if you can help - click here to view the current list of contacts they are looking for. 16 April 2012 The Consumers Health Forum of Australia is currently conducting a project on Quality Use of Medicines among Young People. Part of this project involves an online survey of individuals 17 years old or younger (focussing on young people aged 10 17 years of age) with the aim of gathering information about their attitudes and behaviours regarding medicines and medicine use. To participate visit: 29 February 2011 AWCH attended an event in Sydney’s Martin Place on February 29th that marks World Rare Disease Day 2012. 22 November 2011 AWCH attended the Youth Health2011 – It’s Totally Important Conference in November in Sydney. The conference ran over 3 days and was a wonderful mix of professionals and young people coming together to discuss youth health. AWCH jointly hosted a pre-conference workshop which had a morning session discussing the rights of young people in healthcare and the standards required to protect those rights followed in the afternoon with presentations and discussion about training and workforce development in adolescent healthcare.
