Alison Hutton

Alison's recent research has been in the areas of adolescent health and chronic illness. Her professional goal is to understand the needs of young people in acute and community settings. She is a Senior Lecturer who has been working at Flinders University for a number of years. During her time at Flinders Alison has been a successful Teaching and Learning Grant (Flinders University) recipient and completed her doctorate, entitled; My space or yours?" The construction of social space in an adolescent ward.

 

Alison has published in international and national journals and has presented at numerous meetings and conferences. She has recently been invited to study at the University of Pennsylvania, where she worked with Associate Professor Janet Deatrick. She has returned from that trip with a new zest for family management of the child with chronic illness.

 

Alison edits for three international journals, is the Associate Editor for the Neonatal, Paediatric, and Child health Nursing Journal of Paediatric and Child, is on the Journal Management Board for Australian Confederation for Paediatric Child Health Nurses (ACPCHN) and is currently the South Australian President of ACPCHN - SA Branch.

 

Alison is married, with a 7 year old, Harry, and believes children are our greatest gifts, and they should have lots of cuddles; often! I am honored to be on the board of AWCH.
