Getting Better Together

The 1997 Conference focused on the active inclusion of families as part of the health care team caring for their children. The concept of an equal partnership that acknowledges the skills and strengths that each partner brings to the team, both families and health professional, is central to its philosophy.

Negotiating a new understanding of roles, ways of relating and working together can be both difficult and rewarding in the pressured environment of paediatric and adolescent care. The Conference explored the theory, complexities, implementation and impact of ‘Partnership in Care’ in Australian paediatric care.
